Bridget Gaglio, PhD, MPH

Bridget A. Gaglio, PhD, MPH is a Research Scientist at the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Research Institute (MAPRI). Her research interests include interventions that focus on reducing health disparities with a strong emphasis on communication of health information during the course of care, health literacy and numeracy. She received her PhD from the University of Colorado at Denver and her Master of Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology from the University Texas School of Public Health. She has expertise in conducting multiple complex, behavior change interventions and in dissemination and implementation research. She has received extensive training using mixed methods in intervention trials and observational studies. Her primary research goal areas are to conduct: 1) descriptive and intervention research studies grounded in theory and conducted in real-world settings that will demonstrate effectiveness of strategies to reduce well-documented racial/ethnic health inequalities in health care access and utilization, 2) health communication interventions specifically focusing on assuring access to information for individuals varying in health literacy and numeracy abilities, and 3) dissemination and implementation of best practices. She is currently conducting three projects focused on patient-centered communication during cancer care.
