Colorectal Cancer and Health Literacy
Colorectal Cancer Screening Health Communication, Health Literacy, and Acculturation for Latinos in a Managed Care Organization
PI: Bridget Gaglio, PhD, MPH, Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic
Specific aims are:
1. to examine the current level of patient knowledge about colorectal cancer and screening.
2. to identify patient preferences and reactions toward current methods of obtaining and receiving colorectal cancer screening information and to assess if they vary by health literacy level and/or acculturation.
3. to identify the current methods used by health care providers in recommending and encouraging patients to follow through with colorectal cancer screenings.
4. to integrate the above information, and to provide recommendations for ways to enhance health information provided to patients on colorectal cancer screening.
