Purpose
The purpose of the Dissemination Core is to maximize the relevance of the Cancer Research Network (CRN) Cancer Communication Research Center (CCRC) activities to practice. To accomplish this overall goal, the Dissemination Core will conduct the following activities to enhance implementation of patient-centered cancer communication practices:
1. Dissemination Support Activities
Target group: CRN Clinicians, Population Care and Quality Improvement Leaders
- Assess the need for and develop tools (e.g., checklists, questionnaires, flowcharts, etc.) to help practitioners think through the challenges of selecting and implementing new evidence-based patient-centered cancer communication procedures.
- Develop criteria to summarize and rate the extent to which newly validated communication interventions and procedures are designed for dissemination.
- Identify and make recommendations on patient-centered communication strategies developed within the CRN, CECCR Centers, and other research institutions, and provide guidance on their adaptation to local settings.
|

Target group: CRN Researchers
| A. |
Serve as a resource on: |
| a. |
the measurement of patient-centered communication processes and outcomes, and |
| b. |
the development of cancer communication materials for patients. |
| B. |
Help CRN researchers anticipate key dissemination hurdles and questions users will have using information from preliminary work by the Discovery Core workgroup. |
| C. |
Help researchers package interventions for dissemination (e.g. develop implementation guides, identify appropriate measures, etc.) |
| D. |
Consult with CRN researchers on the development of additional proposals with a focus on dissemination and implementation. |
|
|
|
2. Data Harmonization and Scientific Collaboration Activities
Target group: Larger scientific community
| A. |
Contribute to the harmonization of cancer communication-related measures through |
| a. |
identifying commonly used measures across our CRN CCRC projects, CECCR centers, and in clinical practice, and |
| b. |
making recommendations on the most useful cancer communication-related measures for each of these settings. |
| B. |
Collaborate with other CECCR centers on dissemination activities |
